The unique composition of Amaco No. 58 Stoneware Clay creates a warm brown color of reduction when fired in oxidation up to Cone 7 and a terra cotta color at Cone 05. It's a good all around clay for the classroom because of its versatility.
Bisque fire to Cone 04 (1971ºF, 1077ºC). No. 58 has a firing range of Cone 5-7 (2205ºF-2295ºF). The recommended glaze firing is Cone 5 (2205ºF), with shrinkage of 14.2% and absorption of 3%. At Cone 7 (2295ºF), shrinkage is 14.4% and absorption is 0.4%.
This 50 lb. box includes two 25 lb. blocks of clay, each in a polyethylene storage bags, so feel free to use the amount required and store the rest for future use. Clay in moist form presents no hazard.
