Triple Phase vs Single Phase - Phase refers to the number of current-carrying wires supplying electrical current to the location. Single-Phase has 2 live wires and 1 ground wire and is common in residential buildings. Three-Phase has 3 live wires and one ground wire, and is usually found only in businesses and institutions, such as schools.
