Is there life beyond cold pressed? You bet, and Alexis believes it can be even more exciting! In this workshop, students will be taken on a fascinating exploration of lesser-used and non-traditional watercolor surfaces such as other papers, canvas, clayboard, gessoed surfaces, bristol board and more. Each day you will use a different surface, try new techniques, and discover exhilarating possibilities for enhanced creativity and personal expression. Along the way, Alexis will pepper her demos with essential lessons on color, value, drawing, and design, along with gentle and informative critiques. Join her, to unleash a new realm of painting possibilities!
Alexis believes that teaching is one of the most important things she can possibly do! She loves to share her passion for art by helping others reach their artistic goals. She has taught watercolor and drawing for twenty years, traveling from North Carolina to California and to the Virgin Islands to do so. She paints outdoors and in her studio, using cold pressed paper, AND everything else, in both locations. A signature member of the National Association of Women Artists, her paintings reside in collections throughout the country and overseas, and can be seen in galleries from the mid-Atlantic to the Virgin Islands.
