Learn new painting techniques that combine transparent watercolor with the collaging of oriental rice papers, or washi. This is an original, bold and entertaining workshop designed to teach you how to make better paintings by mastering collage techniques and by exploring several design formats. Emphasis will be placed on generating dynamic compositions; emphasizing texture; responding to surface developments, and rescuing unsuccessful paintings. The overriding goal is to help you achieve new freedom of expression, learn to respond to surfaces, develop an alternative method of working with watercolor, and have fun while mastering a new and exciting technique.

Jerry is an innovative watercolor and acrylic painter, collagist, teacher, author, and juror. He has written more than 22 books for high school and college Art classes on a wide range of subjects. He has also edited many high school and college textbooks and resource books for teachers. Jerry’s award winning work is in over 4200 private and permanent collections worldwide. He juries several national shows each year and has had over 160 one-man shows. He is a Life Member and past President of the National Watercolor Society, Honorary President of the National Association of Painters in Acrylics, and a member of many other organizations. After 26 years of teaching high school Art, he continues his teaching activities by leading workshops in all parts of the country and overseas.
