This workshop will be an art altering experience! Energy filled days will explore creative methods of watermedia application, including texturing and building layers of paint. Along with exposure to new techniques and materials, new tools will be constructed from commonly found elements to allow you to better express your visions and ideas through paintings. The methods taught will be suitable for both representational and abstract imagery. Demonstrations and discussions will focus on design and composition, how to recharge your work, sources of inspiration, and the business of being an artist. Each day allows for plenty of painting time and optional critiques.

Mary Ann is equally a painter and teacher. She is a professor of Art at Michigan Technological University and has twice received the University’s Distinguished Teaching Award. She is a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society, International Society of Experimental Artists (Nautilus Fellow), Society of Layerists in Multimedia, and others. As author of “Creative Watercolor: A Step by Step Guide and Showcase”, published in English and Japanese, Mary Ann’s influence in experimental watermedia is international. She has been featured in many books and teaches workshops and judges shows around the country.
