Bring your usual brushes. My favorites include the following:
Robert Simmons Sky Flow 1" and 1 1/2"
1" flat "Kemp Badger" bristle type brush (old oil brush or inexpensive painters brush from the hardware store can be cut down)
Round - Sable or Synthetic mix #10 or larger
Paper:
Good quality paper- buy as single sheets not in coil or glued pads. Strathmore Gemini or Arches 140lb cold press or Waterford 200 lb watercolor paper. Students may use 90lb paper for exercises. Do not stretch and tape before class. Please bring sheets not blocks. For most class exercises I recommend working on 1/4 sheets and smaller. For a full week class you will need 2-3 full sheets.
Other:
Plexi-glass to use instead of a board to paint on, slightly larger than your piece of watercolor paper eg. for 11 x 15 paper (1/2 sheet), plexi should be about 14 x 18. You can purchase at a glass shop, or building supply store. Plexi doesn't need to be perfect, ask for a second. You should not pay more than $12- 15.00 max.
