Step-by-Step Watercolor Portraits DVD with Suzanna Winton. In “Step-by-Step Watercolor Portraits,” artist Suzanna Winton takes the viewer through the six steps of painting a watercolor portrait: applying the background, intensifying the color, establishing the features, applying the darks, mid-tones and finishing touches. Suzanna begins the video with a very brief description of brush, palette, paper and color selection and organization. Included with the video is a full-face photo and life-size line drawing to help the advanced beginner or intermediate student along. During the course of the hour and a half video presentation, Winton explains how her approach to portrait painting is designed to allow the subject’s personality to emerge on the paper, which will then facilitate the all important connection with the viewer. 90 minute art instruction video. Suzanna Winton has been studying and painting faces since 1994, when she began her studies at the Florida Art Center. Her paintings capture the personality and “Human” history of each of her carefully chosen subjects. Suzanna has pursued art with a passion since she was seven years old. She credits her mother, Kay Cromartie, a successful professional artist and High School Art Teacher, as the most significant influence on her career. Since 1993, she has specialized in the watercolor medium and practices her skills on a daily basis. She is presently pursuing an ongoing series that expresses the character of people through the texture and expressions of their faces.
