Mel is an internationally known teacher, author, and award-winning watercolorist. A graduate of Pratt Institute, Mel studied watercolor with Edgar Whitney. He is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. Mel has taught workshops throughout the country and abroad for over 25 years. In addition to Mel's two books, Watercolor: Simple, Fast, & Focused and The Figure in Watercolor: Simple, Fast, & Focused, and two videos , he has written feature articles for "American Artist", "The Artist's Magazine", "Watercolor", "Watercolor Magic", and "Watercolor Artist". His paintings are in many private and corporate collections, and have been the recipient of numerous national awards. Mel has had 17 solo exhibitions.
