Design is the key to creating strong paintings, and in this enjoyable and productive workshop, John will take you through a design based process for the creation of an urban scene. Class time will be spent in demonstrations, critiques, individual painting time, and lots of one-on-one instruction. Bring your own photo references of urban landscapes to work from, and John will help you transform them into well designed paintings.

John Salminen

John is a signature member of both American and National Watercolor Societies and is an AWS Dolphin Fellow. He has won over 200 awards in national and international exhibitions, including the AWS Gold Medal in 2006 and 2010. He also was awarded the NWS Silver Star. John's work is gaining international recognition. His painting "Cable Car" was an award winner in the 2010 Shanghai Biennial , and he was invited to represent the US in the Lushian (China) watercolor festival. His work has been featured in many publications, including a 2010 feature article in the French publication L'art de L'Aquarelle. John has also produced two DVDs.
