Here is your chance to experiment with gel mediums, gesso, and stains to produce exquisite texture and low relief working foundations. Your expressive under-paintings can simply be appreciated on their own merit as refined finished pieces, or developed with glazing techniques and luminous layers while building personal symbols. Daily projects of a variety of subject matter will incorporate alternative negative painting strategies, techniques for softening edges and blending color, and effective brushwork. Discover the successful sequencing of transparent glazes and velvety opaques that establish the subtle transitions of hues and the layering of lost and found edges.

Linda Kemp

Linda comes to us from Canada to teach her very popular workshops. Her internationally recognized painting concepts are the focus of her bestselling book and DVD, Watercolor—Painting Outside the Lines—A Positive Approach to Negative Painting. She is a contributing artist/writer to six additional books, and has been featured in TV and internet forums and in numerous art publications such as "International Artist" and " American Artist". Kemp was the recipient of the CSPWC A.J. Casson Medal, the highest honor for outstanding achievement in watercolor in Canada and Women of Distinction for the Arts. Linda instructs and lectures at national symposiums and workshops throughout Canada, the US and the UK.
