Learn the techniques in painting the effects of light in various situations and subject matter along with creating strong and powerful paintings. Color relationships, values, edges, and temperature of light and shadow will be discussed, as well as the application of value sketches, atmospheric, and linear perspective. Throughout the week, participants will gain confidence in developing techniques and painting skills along with discovering and revisiting the basics. Betty will demonstrate daily and provide individual assistance on painting the landscape, still life, and architectural subject. This is an excellent class for all levels, from beginning to advanced.

Betty Carr

Betty received her MFA from San Jose State University and has taught painting and sculpture for many years. She is the author of the acclaimed instructional book, Seeing the Light: An Artist's Guide, and her work has been featured in numerous other books and prominent magazines for artists. Betty is a Signature member of Knickerbocker Society of Artists and Arizona Plein Air Painters. She has received numerous juried awards as well as exhibited in major exhibitions and galleries throughout the country. Betty has been teaching regularly at Cheap Joe's for over 10 years.
