Holbein Gouache is in essence an opaque watercolor and is made from pigment and medium of gum arabic. Each gouache paint is full of vivid color and can even be used to hide not-so successful paint layers underneath. This capability is due to the fact that each paint is highly pigmented. This characteristic makes gouache painting really fun because you can virtually never make a mistake. If you loose your highlights in your watercolor paintings, you can always use gouache to punch up the contrast in your painting. Holbein gouache can even be used as an ink for woodcut if you like. In any artist’s art supply, there should be some gouache. So make sure that at least one of these Holbein gouache paints are in your collection. They are great for adding some interest to any painting.
