Save a brush… buy a paint knife. It’s not exactly a revolutionary idea but a surprising amount of painters don’t own a single palette knife for painting. Now, don’t get us wrong… you don’t need a collection of 18 palette knives. A couple will do the trick and save you from ruining your nice paintbrushes and sending them to an early grave. Jack Richeson palette knives are constructed from a single piece of tempered steel mounted to a hand polished wooden handle. The smaller shapes are perfect for use with watercolor… the larger paint knives for mixing larger amounts of paint. The difference between a painting knife and a palette knife is simple if you didn’t know… typically a painting knife has a crooked neck and a palette knife has a flat neck. Some artist will use a painting knife for painting in lieu of a brush. Whatever you are in to is fine with us, just be wise with your art supplies. Invest a few dollars in a paint knife here and there and save yourself several dollars in the future.
