What is Permanent Masking Medium? Winsor Newton Permanent Masking Medium is used to mask specific areas of the watercolour paper making them resistant to water and paint. This medium can be mixed with watercolor and is ideal for creating detail. Areas of a painting that have been treated with Permanent Masking Medium must be allowed to dry completely before overpainting. Unlike other masking products, a hair dryer can be used to speed drying. Once dry these areas must remain protected and cannot be fully penetrated by further washes. Permanent Masking Medium can be applied directly to white paper or mixed with watercolors first. All watercolor washes that are mixed with Permanent Masking Medium are workable while the wash remains wet, once dry the area becomes isolated. Brushes should be washed with warm water and soap after use with Permanet Masking Medium so that further paint applications do not have traces of medium. Please remember that Permanent Masking Medium IS NOT REMOVABLE. For serious watercolor painters, this medium is a must for their watercolor art supply collection. This watercolor medium is available in a 75ml. glass bottle.
