What is Granulation Medium? Winsor & Newton Granulation Medium gives a mottled or granular appearance to paints which usually result in a smooth wash, such as Winsor Red. By adding Granulation Medium to watercolors that already granulate, a further granulated effect is achieved. This medium is useful whenever you want to add interest or dimension to otherwise flat areas. For maximum effect, dilute watercolor with medium alone. By diluting the paint further with water a variety of results can be achieved. Granulation Medium is resoluble simply be rewetting. Granulation is greatly affected by what watercolour paper is being used. For a greater granulation effect consider painting on a rough surface paper, for less use a cold pressed surface paper. For serious watercolor painters, this watercolor medium is a must for their watercolor art supply paint collection. This medium is available in a 75 ml. glass bottle.
