Watercolor Mediums

What is Watercolour Medium? Winsor Newton Watercolor Medium has the same basic characteristics as Gum Arabic but it also increases the wetting properties of the paper. This will improve the flow the paint across the surface of the paper. Watercolor Medium is usually mixed into the watercolor wash but it can also be added to the jar of watercolor if the artist prefers to use it throughout the painting. This medium should not be used directly from the bottle onto the painting surface as thick application will cause the surface to become brittle. The particular medium is not recommended for use with acid sensitive colors such as Ultramarine. For serious watercolor painters, this medium is a must for their watercolor art supply collection. This watercolor medium is available in a 75ml. glass bottle.
