Rembrandt extra fine soft pastels are world-renowned for their pure pigments, high degree of lightfastness, unique warmth, and velvety softness. This softness is achieved by the use of kaolin, a clear china clay. Rembrandt pastel chalks are ideal for layering techniques. Their softness allows them to be applied over existing layers of pastel and not move the color.
Rembrandt artist pastels are available in a variety of pastel sets as well as portrait and landscape color assortments, like the Rembrandt Pastel 30 half stick set. Half sticks are a great way to get a variety of colors at a fraction of the price. Half stick pastels are fatter but shorter than conventional pastel chalk.
