Handell's Landscape by Mary Jamerson on 12/31/2009

Handell's works are luminous and compelling in this wonderful book on pastel technique. It is difficult to put the book down for any reason other than practicing the techniques presented. Handell's commentary provides insight to many aspects of pastel (and other) work that assist the artist in finding a subject and carrying it to completion. Practical techniques are included, but I found Mr Handell's commentary on his works to be particularly useful. One will "see" light, color, and the landscape with new eyes and heightened senses, inspiring both new and experienced artists to take another look at the scenes all around us. This inspiring volume also provides satisfying practical information on supplies from paper to easels.
