You couldn't have made it through art school without using them... they are conté crayons. Much firmer than a regular crayon, Conté Crayons are hard pastels that are smooth and rich in pigment. Basically a wax based stick of concentrated color that is perfect for use when drawing on newsprint, bristol, toned paper, or just about anything. Use the corners for thinner lines or the side for a wide swath of color. Each stick measures 2-1/2" long × 1/4" square. Available through Cheap Joe's Art Stuff in packages of 2.
