The Components of Landscape DVD with Ron Ranson. “The Components of Landscapes” is not just the title of Ron Ranson’s newest DVD but also describes the subject matter covered as well. In a jam packed three sessions, Ranson outlines and demonstrates the step-by-step process he follows in creating a great landscape painting.
As is the case with most instructors, Ranson shares with the student the why’s and wherefores of material selection and then follows that with his down to earth teaching the “ingredients” of landscape ranging from rocks and skies through flowing water and shadows.
In the process of teaching his method of landscape painting, Ranson takes the student through value and composition with a black and white painting segment before introducing color and then working toward the finished piece. 75 minute art instruction video.
Ron Ranson’s watercolor paintings are both impressionistic and representational. Using his signature hake brush, his aim is to produce strong and colorful paintings with an economy of strokes and a limited palette. He teaches the freedom of expression and simplicity. You will learn how to paint decisively and quickly. Strong design principles are emphasized, and his English sense of humor keeps the you laughing.
Ron is an English artist, teacher, and author, who has recently moved from England to Portland, Oregon. He is one of the world’s most traveled watercolor teachers, giving workshops and private tuition to students on every continent for many years. Ron is a seemingly tireless watercolorist, with a worldwide reputation, having written over 25 books on painting and made many instructional videos that are sold throughout the world. He also writes articles for art magazines in England, Holland, Norway, and Australia, and has been the European editor of the prestigious publication, the “International Artist”.
