Galkyd Gel is a gelled alkyd resin oil painting medium, which Robert Gamblin formulated for painters who want to create transparent impasto. Thixotropic Galkyd Gel holds marks and brush strokes in your oil paint. Galkyd Gel can help artists painting with oils to create impasto applications of approximately 1/4" thick. You can apply multiple layers. Galkyd Gel does not contain driers so it does not allow oil paints to dry as fast as most gel mediums. Adding driers causes oil paintings to darken and become brittle over time. Galkyd Gel contains a very small amount of silica so it is very transparent and lightweight. Galkyd Gel is available from Cheap Joe’s, your oil paint soiurce, in a 150ml. size.
