Gamblin Artists' Oil Color, Cobalt Violet is a pure hue that cannot be mixed from other colors. Cobalt Violet, cobalt phosphate, was discovered just before Manganese Violet. Deep violet that is less red in its masstone than Manganese Violet, this artificial mineral pigment is made by a calcination of cobalt aluminate and sodium phosphate. Although very muted in its tint, it is a marvel as a top coat color. Cool in its masstone, Cobalt Violet greys down considerably when mixed with white. Pigment: Cobalt phosphate (PV 14), Vehicle: Alkali refined linseed oil, Lightfastness I, Series 6, Semi-Transparent
