Very deep black. Formerly made from carbonized ivory, nowadays produced by dry destillation of degreased bones. Small quantities of calciumphosphate add slightly grey-bluish tone. Often used for darf tones and colour turbidity. Since 1881, Schmincke Horadam Aquarelle watercolours has developed its outstanding reputation for using only the highest quality natural gums, resins and pigments.
