This workshop will instruct you on how to make greeting cards for all occasions using purchased or handmade papers, even good smelling “herbal” cards.  These papers will be designed and decorated using mono prints made from gelatin molds, bubble art, marbling, or hand painting on the papers.  If time allows, we may try projects such as lino prints, block prints, or stamping techniques.  The created art will then be applied to greeting card stock.  After completing this workshop, you should never have to purchase another commercial card!

Watermedia
10am—4pm, bring a bag lunch
$45
Upper beginning--Advanced*

The focus of this workshop is painting in a creative, personal, and expressive way from photographs—in other words, freeing yourself from copying!!  We start with an inspiring slide presentation, then a demo and lesson designed to offer new ideas, methods and inspiration for working with photographic references.  Demos are in watercolor but all painters are welcome if they want to improve their use of photographs.  There will be a morning demo, afternoon critique, and ample, supervised painting time.
*Students need a BASIC knowledge of drawing, color mixing and putting paint on paper.  Enthusiasm and curiosity are a big help!

Alexis believes that teaching is one of the most important things she can possibly do!  She leads her students with commitment, energy, enthusiasm, encouragement, and valuable instruction.  She believes in dynamic design, luminous color, well planned values, strong foundational drawing, and personal expression.  Alexis has taught watercolor for nearly two decades.  She is a signature member of the National Association of Women Artists and exhibits her work from Maryland south to the Virgin Islands.   www.alexislavineartist.com
