Try your hand at watercolors! Strengthen your design skills and take your paintings to the next level! This workshop will cover the steps of designing, drawing, and painting. You will learn to create strong compositions, execute a solid underlying sketch, draw typography, and paint effectively. You will paint fromboth photographs and-(weather permitting)-the environs, as we will avail ourselves to beautiful scenery. Expect to learn while having fun through demonstrations, exercises, and individual instruction and encouragement.
An Englewood, New Jersey resident, Dorrie Rifkin paints from her passions. 30 years experience as an award-winning art director ignited and cemented a life-long love affair with typography. Her other passions: music, New York City, and family, are palpable in her work. Every painting has a personal story. Her paintings have won more than 30 prizes, many in international and national juried shows, and are exhibited in several private collections in the United States and Europe. Not only was Dorrie featured in the article “Ones to Watch,” Watercolor Artist (December 2010), but her work was selected for Splash 14: Light and Color, and Splash 15: Creative Solutions. Her painting,” Leaving the Highland”, was selected for the cover of Watercolor Artist magazine (February 2015). Her New York City and New Jersey themed prints have adorned sets and locations on NBC’s Prime Suspect (2011) and Fox’s Brooklyn Nine–Nine (2013). She is a signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, the Northeast Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and the Baltimore Watercolor Society.
