This new art workshop emphasizes the development and use of incredibly rich, textured surfaces, and challenges creative thinking and working. Every aspect of design, materials and ingenuity will be used to create exciting images. We will literally build surfaces on which to paint! Each artwork will be unique and fun to construct. You can incorporate papers, cardboards, string, lace, threads, leaves, flowers, old paintings, and anything else you can squeeze into your suitcase. The sky is the limit when it comes to resources. For painting, any type of image is appropriate from realism, to abstraction, to nonobjective materials.
Gerald is completely involved in art as an innovative watercolor and acrylic painter, collagist, teacher author, and juror. He has written 24 books for high school and college art classes, on a wide range of subjects. He has won awards in most national competitive watercolor shows and has had over 160 one-man shows from Alaska to Florida, and from Bermuda to Hong Kong and Taiwan. He juries several national watercolor shows and regional exhibits every year, and his own work is in over 4500 private and permanent collections in 41 states and 9 countries overseas.
