In this art workshop discover how working small (8” x 10” or smaller) will help you make huge strides without laboring over your artwork! Through creating multiple paintings, you’ll gain strong design skills, learn to incorporate abstract passages, improve drawing skills, and step up the quality of your brushwork. Each day will bring new techniques and materials to explore: journals, paper, AquaBord, gessoed surfaces, and watercolors in tube, pencil and liquid form. You’ll leave with a host of skills that will serve you well in any size painting. Students are encouraged to bring a variety of reference photos, including travel, people, and animals. Days will be filled with exercises, demos, examples, and one-to-one attention. We’ll end each art class with creative ways to display finished artwork.
Robin is as passionate about teaching as she is painting, and is always delighted to share her knowledge of watercolor. Her strong design sense comes from a successful career in graphic design and illustration for major US corporations. When she transitioned to full time painting in 2010, “Watercolor Artist” Magazine selected her as one of their annual Ones To Watch. She has won numerous awards and has been featured in publications such as North Light’s “Sketchbook Confidential II” and “Palette Magazine”. Robin’s teaching approach is relaxed, yet informative, and she has the unique gift of pushing students without their fully realizing it. She is a popular instructor for workshops in the US and abroad.
