We're rather excited about Winsor & Newton Artists' Oilbars - they combine the buttery consistency of oil paint with the freedom and immediacy of charcoal and pastels. Don’t mistake them for oil pastels, though, Oilbars are made to a special formulation of linseed or safflower oil and wax. You can use them on their own or with tube oil color. You may also blend your color with a brush and solvent, to create a more painterly effect!
Available in a 50 ml. stick, each Winsor & Newton Oilbar measures 5-3/4" long.
Payne's Gray - Payne's Gray is a dark blue grey made from a mixture of Ultramarine, Mars Black and sometimes Crimson. It was named after the 18th century watercolorist William Payne who created the mixture and often recommended it to his students as an alternative to plain black.
