Grumbacher Pre-tested Professional Oil Paint, Mars Black, is made with pure pigments milled in alkali-refined linseed oil. Mars Black is the most popular black not made from carbon, considered fully non-toxic, and animal cruelty-free. This oil paint is a dense, heavy modern Black made from Synthetic Iron Oxide that has good tinting strength. Mars Black makes Grays that are essentially neutral and is used for covering relatively large areas because it makes a dry paint film superior to those formed by other Blacks. Formulated from Synthetic Black Iron Oxide (Pbk11).
