Quick Overview
A Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolor Sticks offer the same superior intensity as the Daniel Smith line of Extra Fine Watercolor paints with the convenience and portability of half pans. Each stick is packed with pure pigment and just enough gum arabic to form a solid stick. Watercolor sticks produce vibrant, strong color when wet, or use them dry to build texture. They're highly reactive with water and release rich, creamy colors. Ideal for sketching, developing color values, and building expressive marks, Daniel Smith Watercolor Sticks combine the best of drawing with painting. They're ideal for mixed media.
Burnt Umber - Burnt Umber is a rich dark brown earth pigment which is popular with artists due to its semi-transparent or semi-opaque qualities. This brown is lightfast, low-staining and can readily be lifted to vary its value in otherwise dark passages. Warm Burnt Umber with a little Alizarin Crimson or cool it with blue as your subject dictates.
This is a granulating color, meaning a grainy visual texture is created when the pigment particles settle and clump together rather than settling evenly on the painted surface.
